Lastly, have them think of unique gadgets that their character could use in their adventures. Provide examples to inspire them, but let their imaginations lead the way. For the next class, prepare to have each student present their character and describe its abilities and gadgets, fostering public speaking and storytelling skills.

Begin by explaining what science fiction is, perhaps giving examples of space adventures, time travel, or futuristic technology. Then, start the story with an opening sentence that sets the scene. Each student will then add their own sentence to the story, building on the previous ideas. Encourage them to be as imaginative as they want, introducing their own characters or plot twists. Make sure to keep the activity light-hearted and fun, so that all students feel comfortable participating. Possible variations of the activity could include drawing scenes from the story, acting out parts of the story, or even creating a class book with the completed story.
